Conflict of Interest: Hot For Teacher
My junior year I took an Intro to Literature class as part of my requirements for my major. The class was interesting enough, though boring at times, and I learned so much that semester but I was distracted whenever I had to go to my Discussion by my really hot TA. I'm the sort of person who doesn't normally get nervous around guys but something about him made me feel like a 5-year-old every time he spoke to me. The thing that made me even more nervous was that it seemed as if he might have taken an interest in me, past a normal TA-Student relationship.
During the Discussion class I had once a week, he would always be looking at me (the sort of look a guy across from you at a bar gives you before he comes over and asks to buy you a drink), or I would look up from taking notes and catch his eye multiple times each class as if he had been watching me. He would talk to me after class from time to time and bring me books that he thought I'd like. I never really saw him interact with any of the other students that way. He never really gave me criticism when it came to grading my papers (but I was an English major, so writing papers is my forte).I talked to a friend of mine about him once and she told me that she heard he had gotten in trouble once before for being overly flirtatious and pursuing a relationship with one of his students in a class a year ago. I understand it is a complete conflict of interest for a student and a teacher to get involved while he is in charge of that student's grades, but what about after? He was getting his Doctorate, but he couldn't have been more than 25 years old. Not that I seriously ever entertained the idea of anything happening between us, he was just a nice distraction from a class that sometimes felt like it dragged on for days.
Have any of your readers had the hots for a teacher, teacher's assistant, or someone who worked at your school? Are there any teachers you ever wished you could have dated after your class was over? I had this Physics teacher in high school and I almost failed that class because I'd spend the whole time drooling over him (also I was terrible at Physics).

I had a cute younger teacher my sophomore year of high school who was in her early 20s.It was a weird semester. I was always getting in trouble for random things (nothing bad bad), but things like talking during a presentation and bringing a 2-liter of Mountain Dew into class, stuff like that. The weird part was I would compliment her (and tell her she looks really pretty in an obviously hitting-on-her way) and she would be too flattered/embarrassed to punish me. She would blush and be like "Stop that and pay attention.".
I do know a TA that got engaged to one of his students, several years after being together of course. I think dating a TA is more acceptable than if it was a professor. But there is that conflict of interest over your grades. But regardless, you should be getting an A because you two share the same interest with this course or he's helping you learn by giving you more help and attention. If a relationship were to happen, I wouldn't want to give the girl more stuff to argue about in the future.. "remember that time you gave me a B in your class?".... T____T lol.
I've been on the receiving end of that whole thing. During my tenure as a TA at a state university and a high school teacher I had those students who crushed on me hard. Luckily I never had to put any of them in their place, but it was a little creepy nonetheless, especially given how much of a mean jackass of a teacher I was (and that was totally by choice, I should say).
a TA isn't an actual teacher though, they're there just for their title. to assist the teacher. TA's fair game.
I've never been on the receiving end of that as a student but I did date a teacher when I was a teacher's aid which was especially ... fun
@IcECaT123@xanga - Depends on where you go. When I was a TA I had full control over the classes I taught. It probably varies by discipline too.
I was late to my college class and the only seat left was at the very front, so I had to sit there. the teacher was walking around and lecturing close to me. I was bored, so I spent part of the time staring at his crotch. I didn't really see anything he wasn't that hot either. it was really a cornered situation since his crotch was like eye-level to the desks. I went to class a tad earlier and found a seat a few seats back and sat behind this fat girl, who sat at the very front seat where I used to sit. she helped me block the view of the teacher's crotch*Whew* then this guy with really cute hair would sit behind me nearly everyday. it is usually the other way around where I'd sit behind a guy with sexy hair, but he'd arrive later than I and got the seat behind me. so he was probably staring at my silky hair instead I had crushes on my classmates than on teachers. I was still in my chola phase back then and had a thing for gangster looking guys. I have a thing for older men now, not teachers, but on bossy men my current boss crush is in charge of thousands of people whereas teachers are usually just in charge of a classroom of students. the dictator position is sexy to me not just any old ugly dictator, a supermodel-like charming, intelligent and whole package one like my crush is.
done it before, *not* a big deal...but i was only her tutor (no control over her grades) and it was after her class was over (because i didn't want money to become an issue, a la seinfeld).
Oh, definitely. Still like him too, but he's got a partner and I'm no home wrecker. He flirted with me on several occasions when no one was around, but due to the fact he is with someone, I'm sure it was just a bit of fun on his part, and a nice distraction from work. I still think he finds me attractive on some level, but I try not to dwell too much on any of those possibilities, because let's face it;-- even if he does have a minor crush, we could never get together anyway (because he's unavailable), so I try to ignore my crush on him.
lol liberal arts majors' first world problems.
I had the hots for my professor last semester. I never pursued it, but I always wondered if we met at a bar, and if she was drunk....
I'm currently dating my past TA. We're only 2.5 years apart and he sort of waited till after grades were due to ask me out but he was really good about it. You can just hide the names on papers when you're grading them. It's pretty hot though I must say, dating your TA. Makes for extra fun in the bedroom.
Probably should maintain a professional relationship. Once you have finished all English courses, though, I would wonder if it is ok???
I had a speech teacher that was 26 when I was 20 in college. We used to each lunch together near class & chat. Found out later (when I met him) she took a liking to me because she & her fiance had a whole lot in common. I think she realized it too after we met each other. She never had lunch with me again.
A TA once. But I think that being attracted to a TA in college is more of a grey area in terms of grossness-- since the age gap between most grad students and under grad students is not that big. If some tween had the hots for a middle school teacher-- or some undergrad was jonesing for a super hold professor, then yea-- that is kind of bad. however-- I do see how the college board will consider this a conflict of interest either way.
I had a MAJOR crush on my history in what should have been my junior year of HS. He was 24,25, and I was 16,17. I tried so hard, and now I feel guilty for it. He didn't come back after that year, and I started being flirty with all teachers after that to mask how smitten I was with him. Still think of him all the time.
In high school I was pretty much obsessed with my math teacher. To this day I truly believe he had a thing for me as well. He was always more stern with me than anyone else, and he always joked around with me more than anyone else. Regardless if that doesn't sound like he likes me...just let me bask in that feeling please, lol. Now, in college, I recently had a little crush on my Political Science professor. He's like a European metrosexual, which is definitely not my type. I found his intelligence and arrogance sexy though. I would always make sure I looked my best for his class. He definitely thought I was sexy too! LOL. Those are the only two educators I've ever had a crush on. Very few good-looking educators are employed at my school.
