I Dream of Cheating
I have had a most unusual week, waking up feeling incredibly disturbed about what I dreamt about the night before. I had a dream the other night in which my boyfriend cheated on me and was clearly not hiding it from me, not even making an attempt to hide it from me. The next night I dreamt that I cheated on my boyfriend with a guy that I currently have a crush on. There was a lot of touching involved and some caressing of exposed body parts. In short, it was a sex dream and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. I did. I have this theory (derived from reading several articles and just living life and speaking to real life human women) that women are just as into sex, if not more so than men.I believe myself to be living proof of this theory/hypothesis. I digress. Apart from being disturbed by my boyfriend cheating on me with another women, I can't match a face to anyone because for the most part, you cannot do that in dreams, I was delighted by my cheating dream even though I would not cheat on my boyfriend. I have been asking myself two questions: 1. What does it mean that I had a dream of my boyfriend cheating one me? 2. Why is it the next evening I had a dream about me cheating on him? I wonder if this is so unusual, the strange succession of dreams.
I was curious about a possible dream interpretation so, of course, I Googled:In most cases, however, a dream about a cheating boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse is not about the spouse at all. Rather, the dream is most likely caused by insecurity, anxiety or guilt on the part of the dreamer.
For instance, dreaming about catching your boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse with another partner probably indicates a deep seated anxiety on your part, either worry about your appearance, doubts about your attractiveness, or just generalized anxiety about the future.
**There is no such thing as accurate dream interpretation**
I then needed to interpret the second dream:
Likewise, dreaming that you are cheating on your spouse or significant other can result from guilt you feel about other issues. In some cases these feelings of guilt are not even related to your relationship.
Rather, the guilt could be the result of anything from cutting corners at work to cheating on a test to being less than honest with family members. Thus the cheating is only a symbol of guilt you already feel, not a prediction that you will be stepping out on your husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend.
These dream interpretations seem rather uneventful to me and almost boring. Ok, yes, I am slightly anxiety ridden about my future, I'll give them that. I thought maybe my dreams meant that I was some sort of psychic and that I either knew something that already happened or that I could possibly see into the future. I'm joking, of course.
What are your thoughts on this popular dream interpretation of cheating? Have you had a dream about cheating and if so, how often?

When my dreams aren't wild abstractions of reality composed of random impossible shapes and colors endlessly swirling around and actually resemble realistic events, I always either dream of gorging myself on junk food or cuddling with the one that got away. Like the dreams where you're falling and you wake up right as you're about to hit the ground, the moment we fall asleep in each other's arms is the moment I wake up. :
Dream interpretations are just that - interpretations. You can't trust "generic" dream interpretations as each dream meaning is unique to the individual that has them.To get more accuracy, you have to figure out what the symbols in your dream mean. As you've read in the generic interpretation, you shouldn't take the dream from a literal sense. You have to figure out what the images are symbols of and what they represent. Dreaming of cheating or being cheated on has no more literal weight than the dream of showing up for exams in your underwear.
Maybe it just means you want more of the freaky deaky stuff?
you probably are anxious about a lot of things in your life. maybe you're having insecurities because you have no idea if the path you're taking in life is correct or treading with the right person. although you have high morals, and do not believe in cheating, you can't help but wonder what if i ended up with someone else. but it's not something you dare to think about consciously, so your subconsciousness will reveal those kinds of thoughts to you.
I had a dream about my boss crush. in the dream, he had a slightly different nose with a more defined and superficial looking arch that looks as if he got a nose job. I love his nose as is. I didn't like his nose in the dream. maybe it was more of a nightmare than fantasy dream that my crush turned ugly! he wasn't ugly in the dream though. I still recognized that it was him despite the different nose. I have not had a sex dream about my crush. in the dream, I was sitting in a car with him. he sat in the front seat and he looked back and smiled at me his smile is as gorgeous as it is in person. he even makes me blush in my dream I don't really remember if the dream had more. the most memorable part was his gorgeous smile. I saw him the other day at work and he is so tall, slender, and statuesque would it be cheating if I admired another guy other than my bf that is up to us to decide. I've told my bf about my crush and he admires my taste in men what's the harm of being a fangirl. it isn't like I'm going to actually be like a groupie since I'm too much of an elitist diva to act like a crazy in public, especially not at work. I just silently have crazy fangirl thoughts
@P0RCELA1N_D0LL@xanga - "I'm too much of an elitist diva to act like a crazy in public, especially not at work."Unless someones owes you money and fails to pay - then it's on like Donkey Kong.
Never had any cheating dreams.. so dunno
I've been studying dreams for 18 years and have come to the conclusion that generic interpretations are ok to look at to get an idea but then you have to look at what is going in your life to make you feel that way and look at symbols. I have had dreams that involved us divorcing and me having a chance with other guys then realizing what I was missing with losing my husband. All my dreams like that ended the same and I realized that my husband was the one I wanted to be with truly. You also need to look at the symbols and what they mean to you. Any things that stand out, take note of and if they have personal meanings to you, good chance that's what it is supposed to symbolize. NEVER take a dream literally, it's almost always symbolic.
There's a good chance you feel trapped in same way in your relationship, or life, and that's where it comes from.
Well - its only cheating in your dreams if in the dream you believe you have a SO or spouse - and are aware in the dream that you are with someone else at the same time you are in a relationship with the SO or spouse.A lot of my dreams - sexual or otherwise - take me to a time and place where I am single - alone - no one is in my life. Like when I was a kid, adolescent, or young adult. That's the neat thing about dreams!
To me honest, I have dreamed both. I agree with the first dream interp. I feel like I don't measure up to what I was once. The cheating dreams, well to be honest when I am in the dream it is lovely, and so very magical. But after I feel horrible, because I do love and want to be with my boyfriend. I think simply I don't get enough and that manifested in dreams. Sexy, sexy, dreams. Where I am getting all I need and I look HOT.
