I spent the past week roadtripping from big cities to small towns and everywhere in between. Along the way, I saw several attractive young women, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t check them out. But, being in a committed monogamous relationship, I didn’t approach any of them. If I was single, though, that may not have been the case. Maybe, just maybe, I would have tried for a vacation hookup. Continue reading

The Little Things
I was just watching a cooking show this morning where the host was talking about keeping the romance alive with your SO after you've been together for a long time. I guess I've always wondered about the people who have been married for 20, 30, or 40+ years. Obviously it isn't easy the entire time, and earlier generations didn't rely on divorce as heavily as some people in today's society do, but the idea sort of intrigued me. -
Dating on the Job?
The other day, I was talking to my friend at work. I was in a new position, so she was filling me in on the office gossip. Continue reading →

Unmarried, But Want Children
So...it's a little bit weird.
I'm a 31-year-old single, white female, living on her own. I have my own apartment, took a loan from the bank, have 30 years to pay for it and my own full, paid car. I don't want to get married—ever. My father is an alcoholic and my mother left home. It was bad for me. I have a lover—he is 45, married and has a 20-year-old daughter. Continue reading →

First Impressions: Meet the Salesperson
I was reading some blogs this morning and came across a quote that I liked about first impressions, "When you meet someone, you usually don’t meet the real person. You meet their sponsor, or their agent. It takes a while to really know someone..." This little quote made me laugh because I think it's really true to the way people act when they first meet. I would admit at times in the beginning of relationships or during a first date, I am a bit more like a car salesman than I normally am. Continue reading →

Missing in Action
So I was dating a guy in March-May. It was casual but there was something there. Slowly, it was as if the conversations were dying and I was the one initiating conversations. I figured maybe he was losing interest and I backed off. He never tried contacting me and I let it die off. I even deleted his number off my phone. Today I got a text message to see how I've been and stating how I was on his mind. I replied back with the usual "hey I'm doing well, how about you?" and he replied with a response and once again he stated how I was on his mind.I could not help but think, "where the heck was his mind for the past few months?" I feel that if someone really was interested in you, they would show interest and would try talk to you to get to know you better. They would not go missing in action for a couple of months and then when for whatever reason they get bored, decide to message you up. -
Why Are You Mad?
I'm at a complete loss for words. A month ago, my ex-boyfriend turned friends with benefit turned booty-call decided not to celebrate my birthday with me because we got into an argument. That day, I decided that it was quite clear I wasn't someone important to him. He tried to apologize but by the time he came around, I was over it, friendship, booty-call, and what-not.We showed up at a mutual friend's party a few weeks after my birthday and I was polite, listened to his ramblings. He suggested that we go home together but I declined. The next day, I went out with girlfriends and text him telling him I wanted to sleepover. Thankfully my girlfriends were such good friends they dragged my ass home that night! But I'm weak when it comes to him, I eventually gave in. Of course, there was instant regret. Continue reading →

Co-Ed Sleepovers at Your Parents House: Yea or Nay?
My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over four years now. He's come to my hometown to visit a few times and even slept over at my house. My mom is very strict, she has been since I was a little girl. She has never once let us sleep in the same room, let alone the same bed. To this day, if my boyfriend sleeps over, he has to sleep on the couch in the living room, or in the guest room. -
The Dynamic of Champions
Yesterday I went to get my hair done before going back to school. I was telling my hair dresser about my internship at Datingish, and she seemed quite intrigued. "Oh, honey, you should come sit in at the salon," she laughed, "you'll get tons of stories--and unsolicited advice." Continue reading →

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not
So there's this boy. Let's call him... Drew.I've had a big crush on Drew for about two months. We're in the same drama and math classes. I was starting to lose hope in him liking me until a few weeks ago, when we both volunteered to be crew/ensemble for the other drama class's production. We bonded backstage, and every day he told me my hair was pretty and was always trying to sit next to me. We also had races to see who could change in and out of costumes faster. That went on for three days and then the next day, Drew asks for my number after chatting with me on Facebook for an hour. We ended up texting for four hours, until one in the morning, and then we texted for a while the next day. Continue reading →
