So there was once this guy who threw up rainbows and birds flew around him whistling songs of summer love. Every time I saw him, it rained candy from heaven. Right up until something... err, someone... got in the way. You see, said boy was in love with a girl who would never have him. That girl was obviously not me. Continue reading

Guys and Gals Who Obsess About Guys and Gals

It Means He's Good With His Tongue...
My friends and I all went out on Saturday for a little girls night out a couple of towns over. At the first bar we went to, my friend spotted this group of good looking guys sitting a couple feet away from us. They were all really sweet, bought us drinks all night, and had us laughing for hours. One of the guys bought my friend a mixed drink that had a bunch of fruit at the bottom (it was sort of like a Sex on The Beach with a lot of tequila added in). At the bottom of the drink there were 2 maraschino cherries, my favorite!I ate the cherries, my friend hates cherries, and put them stems on a napkin next to the drink. One of the guys, Logan, picked the stem up and twirled it between his fingers. My friend Kayla asked him if he could tie the stem in a knot. He smiled, put them stem in his mouth, and (i'm not even exaggerating how fast this was) maybe about 30 seconds later, he reached into his mouth and pulled the stem out, with a perfect knot tied in it.

Do I Spoil Guys?
This might sound odd, but my friend Dana* thinks she's too nice to guys. She thinks she spoils them. The kind of guy she is immediately drawn to is not necessarily the typical All-American guy. Instead, he is sweet, shy, and maybe even a little self-conscious. Continue reading →

Bodybuilding Became His Mistress
Five or so years ago, I dated this really sweet guy named Joey. He was sensitive, caring, and considerate, and at the time, I assumed we’d be together for the long haul. But then, out of nowhere, something within him snapped. He cut his long, black, curly hair, he bought some equipment and supplements, and he became completely obsessed with bodybuilding. Birth Control: Who Should Call the Shots?
If you’re sexually active and you’re not looking to reproduce, then birth control is probably on your mind from time to time. If you’re gay (like me), then your birth control is biology. But if you’re straight, you’re going to need a pill, ring, patch, condom, or other contraceptive contraption or substance to help prevent pregnancy. My question is: when it comes to birth control, who should call the shots? Continue reading → -
I Want to Text Him But...
Two nights ago I was texting with my good friend from school, Jill*. We were both out with friends, and she was telling me that a guy that used to like her had joined them. She was particularly excited because things had been weird between them before, but it seemed like they could start becoming good friends. I told her good luck and that we would talk the next day. The next morning, I texted her asking how it went with the guy. She said it went well although he did get a little too touchy for her taste at some points in the night. She said she had a good time with everyone and wanted to text him the next morning like she would normally do with her friends. However, she was a bit concerned. Continue reading →

Helping a Guy Best Friend Financially: Okay or Not?
I've been close to this special guy friend of mine for 10 years now. I moved to a different country two years ago but we are still best friends. He always texts me first every day, but this is a completely one-sided love story. I like him, but he doesn’t feel the same for me. So yeah, I've loved this guy for 10 years now.He already graduated college and is just reviewing for their board exam. My best friend’s financial status is not that great. I want him to reach his dreams and I decided to help him financially until he passed the board exam. I send him money twice a month (as an allowance) and it doesn’t really bother me at all. What bothers me is that he’s thinking that he owes me a lot already and I feel like even if he doesn’t talk to me about it, he’s not comfortable that I am sending him money but he just has no other choice but to rely on me for now. How I Like to Be Dated
There are certain things I see and/or have experienced in the world of dating that I like and do not like. Personally, here they are. Which points do you agree with or don't agree with?1. I like to be asked out on a formal date, and this is something I will teach my kids when I have them. It doesn't have to be down on one knee, rose in hand, with a violin playing in the background - no. Rather, I would like to know that I am actually on a date, and not just "hanging out." For example, if a guy was interested in me, I would enjoy "Let's go to dinner, just you and me," instead of "I'm going to Taco Bell, wanna come?" Because otherwise, you will instantly go into my friend-zone.I'm pretty much the same when it comes to asking guys out myself.2. Eye contact is important. I don't want to sit there idly while I watch you play with your phone half the time, or look past me/somewhere else during conversation. Sometimes, I like to literally STARE at guys who can't look me during a conversation just to make them feel more uncomfortable about how ridiculous it is to be talking to their hands. I just realized right now that it might be a form of bullying (apologies to those few). -
How Long Should You Wait to Drop the "L" Word?
We told my dad we were going downstairs to watch a movie, eat snacks, be innocent. 30 Days of Night became background noise to our make out session, the light from the TV screen illuminating lip lock and longing. Mercedes stopped for a moment and pulled away, looked down at me, and I heard her say, “I love you.” The “L” word was out. Continue reading → -
When You Assume...
My friend Drew was talking to me about his friend Nathan the other day. Nathan is a good looking guy. There's no denying that. He is very charming, he's got a great sense of humor, and he portrays himself as a gentleman. He'll buy you drinks all night. He's very attentive and when you're talking to him, you get all of his attention. On the surface, Nathan is pretty close to the perfect guy when you first meet him. But what most girls who meet him at the bar don't know is that he's a real pro at what I'll call "hitting it and quitting it."
